Collection: Works in Encaustic

Encaustic is an ancient painting technique that uses molten beeswax mixed with damar resin and pigments. Each layer is applied while warm and then fused with heat, creating a rich, luminous surface that holds depth and texture unlike any other medium.

In my work, encaustic allows me to build complexity. Layer upon layer, I embed marks, colours and materials that tell a visual story. The process is deeply tactile and intuitive. I carve, scrape and rework the surface, often revealing glimpses of what lies beneath the layers.

What draws me to encaustic is it's versatility and physicality. The wax responds to both control and spontaneity, cracks, translucency and embedded elements all become part of the narrative. Each piece is a balance of permanence and impermanence, held in place by fire.
